This plenary panel brings together national, state, local college, and Adult Basic Education perspectives to reflect on developmental education’s shift toward acceleration, multiple measures, corequisite models, and college-level placement, while also asking what may have been gained, lost, or overcorrected along the way. The session will include brief presentations from each panelist, followed by interactive discussion among the panelists designed to generate shared questions, insights, and ideas. The conversation will consider how colleges can better identify what different students need, implement corequisite and accelerated models with adequate support, preserve the open-access mission of community colleges, and build stronger partnerships with ABE and career pathways.
